Application Areas Of Nickel

wallpapers Industry 2021-01-21
Nickel is a transition metal element with element symbol Ni, located in group VIII of the fourth period, with atomic number 28. Nickel is a silver-white metal with good mechanical strength and ductility. It is insoluble in water and has strong corrosion resistance to acids and alkalis, but it is easily soluble in dilute nitric acid and aqua regia. High temperature resistance, melting point 1455 °C, boiling point 2730 °C. The density is 8.902g/cm³. It can be used to make currency, etc. It can be plated on other metals to prevent rust.

Application field

Nickel has good plasticity, corrosion resistance and magnetic properties, so it is mainly used in steel, nickel-based alloys, electroplating and batteries. It is widely used in aircraft, radar and other military manufacturing, civil machinery manufacturing and Electroplating industry, etc.

Steel field

Because nickel has good corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, rust resistance and other properties, it is widely used in the fields of stainless steel and alloy steel.

1. Stainless steel
Nickel consumption is the largest in stainless steel applications, and 2/3 of the world's primary nickel ore is used for stainless steel production. Nickel-containing stainless steel can not only resist the corrosion of atmosphere, steam and water, but also can resist the corrosion of acid, alkali and salt. Therefore, it is widely used in chemical, metallurgy, construction and other industries, such as petrochemical, textile, light industry, nuclear energy Containers, towers, tanks, pipes, etc. that require welding in industries; manufacturing high-pressure corrosion-resistant equipment such as synthesis towers, washing towers, condensation towers, and stripping towers in urea production. According to the different proportion of nickel, nickel-containing stainless steel is mainly divided into: austenitic stainless steel, austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel, and precipitation hardening stainless steel.

2. Alloy steel
Alloy steel is also called special steel. Because of its different element composition ratio and different types, the participation of nickel can increase the strength of the alloy and maintain its good plasticity and toughness. Nickel-containing alloy steel is mainly used in the manufacture of acid-resistant towers, medical equipment, and daily necessities in chemical production, as well as in mechanical manufacturing, transportation and military industries such as the reconstruction of bridges and warships.
